About OtterBox

Founded in 1998, OtterBox stands apart in our dedication to quality, durability and purposeful innovation. Our reputation has been built on building the best cases for phones and tablets, and we’ve been doing it for over 25 years. In that time, we've also expanded our portfolio of products to include screen protection, power accessories and business-to-business solutions.

Where it all began

It began with our rugged Defender Series, a powerhouse case that saved countless devices from catastrophe. But we didn’t stop there. With each new phone generation, new series sprung onto the scene. Symmetry Series, React Series, Frē Series — all unique in their characteristics, and all engineered to withstand drops and knocks.

DROP+ protection

Every OtterBox case is put through rigorous testing in our stress lab. We drop, scuff, tumble, scorch, scratch and more until we know for sure it's ready for real life. There's even a rating system – DROP+. It starts with a baseline US military drop test – 26 hard hits from 4 feet – but we up the ante by running the test over and over and over again. For example, Defender Series XT runs the gauntlet 7x (182 drops in total) before we greenlight it for production.

Inspired by innovation

Did you know the first OtterBox wasn’t a phone case? It was actually a drybox. Our product range continues to evolve – recently we launched Symmetry Series Cactus Leather cases and accessories – beautifully crafted from sustainably harvested nopal cacti!
